Update on sweet Ethan

Hi all, I'm having sweet Hollie copy and paste this message for you again. For some reason my ability to login to the blog to update it was blocked again as of the other day... and it's looking like it won't be fixed until Monday or so. I wanted to fill you in on things, though so here we go!

Ethan finished his final sessions of radiation today. And he did a fabulous job! He doesn't seem phased by any of this so far. Really, he's only been a little more tired than ususal, but he still has his cutie pie smile and is still active and responsive. You should have seen his face light up when daddy came today! It was wonderful to see Adam again and for the 3 of us to be together. Adam will be with us through Tuesday... when Ethan gets his transplant.

We got moved to a new room today and I feel much better about it. Everyone has been very nice and are very good about Ethan's care. I'm starting to feel more comfortable. I can't tell you how wonderful Ethan has been doing. Even after a week of radiation, you'd STILL never know he had cancer and was about to go through a transplant! I have a few cute pictures to post of him, that I took today... but I'll have to wait until I get access to the blog again! They are so adorable!!

Overnight tonight, which will be 1:00 AM on Saturday morning, Ethan will begin his steroid medication his ATG medication and his chemo. They've warned us that these medications make children feel extremely "yucky" and moody. We should expect fevers, chills, hives, possible blood in urine, and extreme irritability.... however, I'm unashamedly asking for prayer against each of those possible side effects. I do accept whatever the Lord's plan, but I don't belive it hurts to ask Him for His favor and blessing AND protection to be over Ethan's body. So far it has, and I'm asking you to pray that it continues... especially Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (that's how long he will be getting this particular regimen). I simply do not want him to suffer, and my prayer throughout this process is that I would be the one to struggle, not our little baby. And God has been so good. So very, very good.

Each morning I sing to Ethan, and I'll close tonight's post with the song....

He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands

He's got Ethan Ecker Krawiec in His hands
He's got Ethan Ecker Krawiec in His hands
He's got Ethan Ecker Krawiec in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands

He's got your mommy and your daddy in His hands
He's got your mommy and your daddy in His hands
He's got your mommy and your daddy in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands

He's got our little baby boy in His hands
He's got our little baby boy in His hands
He's got our little baby boy in His hands
He's got the whole world in His hands

.... and He's got YOU too!

What a sweet song to sing to sweet little Ethan! We'll be praying for him as he starts chemo. Been there, done that. I know the Lord protected me from all those bad side effects. So I know He'll do the same for Ethan! Praise the Lord! Goodnight, Kasey, sleep well. We love you!

Adam and Kasey,

I have been browsing your site each day. Thank you for keeping us informed. btw, your family has done an excellent job in updating us as well. You have been in our heart and prayers. Although I often read I have never left any comments but tonight, for some reason, I felt compelled to write.

As I have been studying for my Sunday morning message this passage continues to come to mind, especially when we pray for you. It is Revelation 3:8 and it says, "I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name."

Your son Ethan has a little strength. Adam and Kasey, I'm sure that some days you both feel the same way. Drained and tired. But God has placed before your family an open door. I do not understand why God has allowed this door to be open in your life at this time. Yet we know that it is God, our Father, the One who loves us and cares for us who has opened this door. Be strong and take courage.

Your family has a great testimony to thousands of people across this country. You may feel that your hectic lives are spinning so quickly that you can't catch your breath, but I want you remind you that God is faithful.

He has opened this door and given you the strength to carry on each day. Please know that we are lifting you up in prayer and asking our Father to watch over little Ethan. He truly does have the whole world in His hands. Be strong in the Lord!

God bless you and we love you.

Hi Kasey,
You don't know us, but we're in Sunday School with David and Tracy Bates. We have been praying for you all and Ethan, and we will be specifically praying the next few days that he doesn't experience any adverse side effects from his treatment. I am so thankful the Lord has kept him feeling well. I'm also praying for strength, encouragement, and peace for you and Adam. Our hearts go out to you. Our 2 1/2 year old daughter was born with bacterial meningitis, and I know only a very little of what it's like to experience seeing your precious baby being sick. We praise the Lord for his healing of her. She's just fine now, and we're praying for the Lord's healing of baby Ethan. We've also e-mailed other friends and asked them to pray, so just know that you all are being lifted up by many people daily! Chris and Edie Wright

Dear Adam and Kasey and Ethan,
This evening, as we prepare for Beka to return to PCC in the morning, I was considering Ethan's college days. I feel completely comfortable thinking ahead like that because we have such a great God Who has taken care of all of the details of your life so perfectly. Since we have to get through K-4 first and birthdays 1, 2, and 3 before that, I guess we ought to be leaving tomorrow's school thoughts for the future. Hope, Joy and Confidence in our great Saviour are so sweet to hold onto every day. We give glory to God for the work He's done in the lives of so many of us through this special time in your lives. You are in our prayers every day. All our love, the Hunts

Kasey and Adam, and of course Ethan,
I have not left a message lately, but have been keeping up with the "life of Ethan and Mom and Dad". I will pray for there to be NO side effects and Ethan will be so strong and ready for the transplant. I pray for your faith to keep growing stronger and your peace and comfort 24 hours a day!! God is a Great God and Worthy to be Praised!! But also understanding how hard that may be sometimes, Kasey, your faith has been an encouragement to me and I am sure all the others who read your blog. Thank you.
God bless you and be closer to you than you can imagine.
Love, Kim

I can't wait to see the pictures of Ethan. He is one beautiful angel. We are with you. I know God has your family in his hands and EVERYTHING will be okay.

Kasey! I am pleading with God for Ethan. I am praying that Ethan will be FREE of all side effects. If he's experienced some over the weekend, I am praying that they will be fleeting! The Lord does not want to see your precious baby suffer. I will be praying big tomorrow as Ethan goes through his transplant. You are very loved!
