Update

Hi everyone, I am one of Kasey's blogger friends (Hollie) and Kasey has asked me to share this message with you as she is currently unable to access her blog at the hospital. The site is considered a "blocked" site through the hospital's internet network and she's actively working to see if they will un-block it for her. Please be in prayer that this will happen. Otherwise, she will have to go across the street to Starbucks to make any updates to the site and she's very disappointed by that possibility. Here is the rest of Kasey's note.....

Hi friends, well, it's been a long day and a half. I will go into more detail when I feel up to it, but Ethan was put to sleep for his first round of radiation, and it went well. He will get another session this afternoon, and two more each day through Friday. Please pray for the times in between that he is not allowed to eat. This morning was particularly difficult for him as he had to wait. Please also pray for the Lord's particular protection of Ethan's brain, heart, lungs, eyes, and liver during these radiation treatments. Please also pray for me to be able to get rest at night. There have been a few instances already that have kind of brought out the Jekyl & Hyde in me. Thank you for praying. Thank you very much. I hope to be able to have access to the blog here in the hospital room, so please be in prayer they will remove the restriction. All in all, Ethan is doing well. Mom, on the other hand, is a little weary. More later.....

Kasey
I just sent your email and went and checked your blog, wouldn’t you know it there was the update.

I sure will be praying that they will let you access your blog from your room.

I will also beg the lord to keep Ethan brain, heart, lungs, eyes and liver in tact though all he is going though.

I haven't stopped thinking about you guys or praying for ALL of you. I hope you can get some rest, Kasey because I know you are going to need it. I will pray that they will allow you access - that's a selfish prayer on my part because I'm not sure I can stand not getting my updates about you guys! Remember always that the Lord is at his strongest when you are at your weariest. Prayers for Ethan's protection and complete healing.

Kasey, lots and lots of prayer and love. I know you were really hoping they wouldn't have to put him under during his treatments. We just have to believe that this is the best course for him. I know having a hungry baby is so difficult. My heart is with you.
Love,
Carrie

We will open up access to your the blog site within the hour. Our guest network is used by our young patients as well as family members, so we have to be extra cautious about the sites we allow.

I wish you all the best of luck with your son's illness. He's in the best hands here at Children's Hospital.

Kaset, so great to see that your prayer for internet was so quickly answered!

While it must be so hard for you as a mom to watch the doctors put your baby to sleep for the radiation, it's crucial. I know from going through radiation what a precise science it is and how the radiation beams have to go in at just the correct angle to get the cancer cells without harming the other organs.

I know that me saying that doesn't make it any eaisier for you, but I hope to encourage you none the less.

I know we all get amazed by how God answers our prayers, but yet he is always so faithful and just to answer - it shouldn't shock us so much.

There are so many people praying for Ethan, mommy and daddy. It is heart-touching to see all the comments. I also pray for all the doctors and nurses that you touch with your lives. Maybe God needs you to come into their lives and that is why He has you there right now. When His work is finished He will bring you home.
I trust in Him COMPLETELY!
Love, Angela

Hi Kasey -

First and most importantly, my thoughts and best wishes are with you and Ethan. He seems like such a strong little guy and with all of your support I think he'll be able to fight through this.

I also wanted to thank you for joining the Blogging for Blood Cancers event - especially with all that is going on. Thank you for taking the time to help raise awareness of these diseases.

I work for LLS and write the Light The Night Blog. And on behalf of us all, I want to wish you the best and thank you tremendously.
