Specific Prayer Request This Morning

Please pray for our sweet Ethan's eyes. We noticed yesterday that his eye lids were slightly swollen. The initial thought was that it was a delayed reaction to the chemo. Late last night, Adam picked Ethan up out of the hospital crib to feed him and we noticed his eye lids were HUGE. His precious eyes were swollen shut! I immediately started crying and went running for a nurse and the resident doctor. The thought process was that he was possibly having an allergice reaction to the morphine that he had been getting for pain control. They put some steroid drops in his eyes and gave him Benadryl. Throughout the night, as I got up to check on him, I didn't see much of a change in his sad situation. Now this morning, they are still swollen. He's able to open them, but only slightly. They assure me he's not in pain from the swelling, but possibly frustrated a little when he can't open them. Regardless, it breaks my heart to look at him. The doctors are making their rounds and they are going to come check on his situation... please pray for wisdom. The nurses were treating him overnight as if it was an allergic reaction, but we're not positive that's really the problem. Please pray now that they find the cause of this problem and that they can quickly treat it successfully.... if for no other reason than so my heart stops aching.

Please also pray as Ethan will go back into surgery today at 2:30 to have his central line replaced (thin tube inserted into his chest that they use as an IV for chemo, blood transfusions, etc.) Pray that they can do a dual line this time so that they don't have to do a separate line in his arm and chest. If they can get both lines in his chest he will be a lot more comfortable than if they had to do one in his chest and one in his arm. It is considered surgery, so please be in prayer for all the details involved (putting him to sleep, no infection, etc). He has already had this done before, but the line came out a little bit, so they have to replace it... however, now they can try to put in a dual line (like I mentioned) and if they can, then this whole situation is actually a blessing in disguise. Just pray for him to come out of everything okay.

Much love to all of you.

We'll be praying for those 2 specific prayer requests for Ethan. Jeremiah 30:17- "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord..." This is our prayer for sweet little Ethan. God is faithful!

Ethan, Kasey, and Adam and all praying along with them
Prayer for the sick:
Dear Jesus, Divine Physician and Healer of the sick, we turn to you in this time of illness. O dearest comforter of the troubled, alleviate our worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant us the grace and strength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place our worries in your hands. We place our sick under your care and humbly ask that you restore your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge your will and know that whatever you do, you do for the love of us. Amen.

Love Always, Desira Olivia and Jim Chapdelaine

For Adam
When God Made Fathers
When the good Lord was creating Fathers, he started with a tall frame.
A female angel nearby said "What kind of a Father is that? If you're going to make children so close to the ground, why have you put the Father up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child into bed without bending, or even kiss a child without stooping."
God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child size, who would children have to look up to?"
And when God made a Father's hands, they were large. The angel shook her head and said, "Large hands can't manage diaper pins, small buttons, rubber bands on pony tails, or even remove splinters caused from baseball bats."
Again God smiled and said, "I know, but they're large enough to hold everything a small boy empties from his pockets, yet small enough to cup a child's face in them."
Then God molded long slim legs and broad shoulders, "Do you realize you just made a Father without a lap?" the angel chuckled.
God said, "A Mother needs a lap. A Father needs strong shoulders to pull a sled, to balance a boy on a bicycle, or to hold a sleepy head on the way home from the circus."
When God was in the middle of creating the biggest feet anyone had ever seen, the angel could not contain herself any longer. "That's not fair. Do you honestly think those boats are going to get out of bed early in the morning when the baby cries, or walk through a birthday party without crushing one or two of the guests?"
God again smiled and said, "They will work. You will see. They will support a small child who wants to ride to Branbury Cross or scare mice away from a summer cabin, or display shoes that will be a challenge to fill."
God worked throughout the night, giving the Father few words, but a firm authoritative voice; eyes that see everything, but remain calm and tolerant.
Finally, almost as an after thought, He added tears. Then He turned to the angel and said, "Now are you satisfied he can love as much as a Mother can?"
The angel said nothing more.

Dear Kasey and Adam,
There are many prayers being spoken for Ethan. Ethan is on a number of prayer chains around the country. I have passed on Ethans story to many family members who will continue prayer for his healing.
Continue to hold onto the "anchor" thru this storm. The Lord will get you thru.
You are missed at school. Michael prayers for Ethan that "he gets better soon."
You and Adam are fantastic parents. Ethan couldn't have asked for a better mommy and daddy.
Continue being a great testimony for what the Lord has given you.
With love and prayers Sharan C.

Thank you again for sharing the latest with us all. Kasey we are praying for Ethan daily and today will add this request. I could not think of a more perfect verse than what you have posted, John 11:3-4. Hold tight to that. I know you are. God has a plan. I know that you and Adam fervently believe that. We love you and we are praying, not only for Ethan's little body for strength for you and Adam as well.
